Call Now to Book Your Trip

Hi Bill:

Overall we had a great time in La Paz. All the guys enjoyed this trip and it was nice seeing how much La Paz has grown and changed since the last time Doug and I were there over 15 years ago.

The van that took us from the airport to La Paz was great except it really only held 9 people comfortably. 1 person had to sit in the middle which had a hump on the seat and made it uncomfortable for the long ride. I believe it was necessary to remove the rear back seat because of the luggage (why we opted for 2 vans returning to the airport). The beer tasted good on our way from the airport to La Paz.

The hotel was very high class and service was excellent. Because we had to depart on our fishing boats by 7:00 am we normally left the hotel between 6:15 am to 6:30 am. Therefore, we were unable to eat their breakfast buffet that started at 7:00 am. They indicated they would have rolls and coffee available for us prior to 7:00 am, however, we only had it available just twice during our stay.

The boats were nice and somewhat comfortable. Doug, Tom & I had the newer boat, Proline, and it had a bunk to sleep in. The other 2 boats did not have that accommodation. They only had one individual handling the boat  who not only drove the boat, but also was very efficient in handling our needs, such as getting our food, drinks, often baiting our hooks (which we later did on our own). This left less time for him to try and spot any surface fish. Unlike Cabo where there are 2 individuals per boat (captain & deck hand). The overall fishing in my opinion was OK, but apparently there were several storms prior to arriving, in fact one was just coming in the day we left, that probably may have affected the fishing in that area.  Today I just spoke to my sister in law as my brother and nephews are fishing on the east cape near La Paz since Sat and they said they brought in 3 large Wahoo’s and other game fish yesterday.

Three of the guys went spear fishing on the last full day in La Paz and their guide speared a nice size Wahoo which we, including the skipper and guide, had for dinner at the hotel Japanese restaurant.

I thought this brief description would be of interest to you and we are all thinking of going to Costa Rica next year so we will be in touch with you later on that trip.
