Hello from the tropics,
Tuna, Black Marlin, Cubera Snapper, Rooster Fish, another great week at Coiba island. Fishing with us this week were old time clients and friends Jon Bos, Tony Bos, Steve Bos, Gary Bos, Terry Krausgrill, Greg Hamstra, and Bob Dejager. Captain Paco also joined us for this trip. Paco arrived as a guest but was kind enough to take Captain Bartolo’s position. Bartolo had an emergency medical condition and had to return to David halfway threw the trip….Bart is fine and will be back to work in a couple of weeks.
The trip starterd out well with a good day of inshore fishing at Ladrone island including top water catches of Cubera Snapper, Blue Jacks, Jack Crevelle and Horse Eye Jacks. The action really heated up the second day when we found a huge school of Yellowfin Tuna at Montousa island. Everyone hooked and landed a tuna. We ended up with seven fish over 100 pounds four of which were over 200 pounds…fantastic fishing! While Co-captain Jon Bos and I moved inshore for the rest of the trip Macho and Paco continued to have good offshore including a 400 pound Black Marlin landed by Bob Dejager. Inshore casting and live bait fishing was quite good Jon managed to land a 50 Rooster and brother Tony followed up on the last day with a monster 65 Roosterfish. Other exciting action included a wide open yellowfin tuna bite on top water lures were the guys had nonstop action on school size Yellowfin to 30 pounds on spinning gear and top water plugs!
It was another great week at Coiba..we look forward to seeing you all again.
