Tyonek Lodge is located on the west side of the Cook Inlet on 40,000 acres of private land owned by the Tyonek Native Corporation. With only a 30-minute charter flight from Anchorage, you could get a half-day of fishing, the same day you fly from home. Tyonek lodge offers a variety of fishing packages from a 2 to 6 day all-inclusive stay, to a one-day guided fishing package for groups of 3 to10 people at very competitive rates. The lodge has been in operation since 1996 and was built specifically for the discriminating angler who appreciates comfortable accommodations, good hearty meals and uncrowded fishing conditions. Because the Tyonek Corporation owns the lower 13 miles of the Chuitna there is limited public access and very little fishing pressure. The lodge consists of a main log cabin with a dining room area and kitchen where guests have their meals, relax and share the stories of the day. There is also a large outsidedeck where we barbecue whenever possible. The three sleeping cabins each have 2 bedrooms with (2-single beds in each room) a loft, and a living room with a wood stove and a deck overlooking the lake. Each cabin will accommodate four people comfortably. Cabin #1 has a bathroom and cabins #2 and #3 share a bathhouse. The bathhouse is clean, roomy and very comfortable with separate men and women facilities and is conviently close to the cabins..The Chuitna has some of the finest river fishing for King and Silver salmon that Alaska has to offer.
The river has a very good run of King salmon in June, and an excellent run of Silvers in July and August. On the Chuitna, you actually walk and wade the river as you fish. Because the river is small enough to ford at the riffles in waders, make it ideal for fly-fishing or spin fishing because you can access all the runs and pools. Kings will average 25 to 30 pounds and some “Monsters” over 45 lbs. Fresh from the ocean these “Big Boys” will test you and your tackle to the limits!! The silvers will average 6 to 10 pounds with some bigger fish in the12 to16 pound class! Fresh from the salt these fish are “HOT” and lots of funnnnn !! In addition to the king and silvers we also get runs of dollies and pink salmon every other year. We fish for rainbow trout in several nearby lakes, upper Chuitna and some other rivers and streams in the area.
Kings – approximately June 10 – June 30.
Silvers – approximately July 15 – September 1.
Dollies & pinks – approximately June 20 – July 20.
Rainbow trout – all season.
