Come join us for unique sport fishing adventure on the Mulchatna River. Located in the Bristol Bay area -of western Alaska, the Mulchatna River feeds the mighty Nushagak River, which boasts some of the highest salmon runs in the world. The Mulchatna River is a breeding ground for all five species of pacific salmon, as well as world-class rainbow trout – Dolly Varden, Grayling and Pike. As the only established lodge on the Muchatna River, you are guaranteed serenity with breathtaking views and easy access to the Koktuli and Stuyahok rivers. It’s not your normal fishing day…the experience and adventure, along with the people and the place will have you telling the greatest fish stories for years to come.

THE FISHING ….. No Combat fishing.  You are in the wilderness without fishing pressure!

King (Chinook)

Run July 1-July 24;  A daily catch at Kautumn Lodge can exceed 10-20 fish per angler with five being pretty typical for most anglers. The Kings of the Mulchatna are aggressive and strong weighing from 10 to 50 lbs.

Reds (Sockeye)

July 1 – July 24:  Most popular Salmon for food.  Hot fish that run anywhere from 6-12lbs.  Turn bright red and develop huge hump and kype.   Usually spawn in lakes … headwaters.

Chum (Dog)

Run June 22-Sept 1; the Chum Salmon are a very aggressive and strong fish. They are a toothy fighter that can reach fifteen pounds. We have lots of chum in the river and they add a lot of fun to your day when you catch them with a mix of other fish.

Silver (Coho)

Run August 1-September 15; You will see what aggressive means when these 10-24 lb fish take your lure or fly. Once on the hook, Silvers will leap completely out of the water multiple times, “tail dancing” across the water; then take off on reel screaming runs only to jump again and again.

Rainbow Trout

Run Spring-Fall; The Mulchatna River area is world renowned for its huge rainbows.  We fish the smaller rivers from ice out in mid-May through freeze up in October. Hot fishing begins at the end of May when we’re fishing for aggressive spawners. There really isn’t a better place to pursue huge rainbows.

OTHER FISH:  Dolly Varden during July – October  and  Grayling all season long

GETTING THERE:   Charter Float Plane direct to lodge from Anchorage.  Beautiful Flight
