Fishing International client Emery Kertesz spent a few days fishing Venezuela in April and reports back:
A brief synopsis of Shelly's and my trip to Venezuela last month:
The entire experience was excellent but as per the internet details and given the cost we expected nothing short of excellent.
The hotel is beautifully situated and despite the fact that the hotel was a bit remote from the marina the transfers were not inconvenient.
Our arrival in Caracas was uneventful and our transfer to the hotel was well organized and on time. All transfers were on time; the only problem was the lack of English by a couple of the drivers but it didn't matter that much; it allowed us to practice our Spanish. As we had bags for 1 month away as Venezuela was not our only destination on the trip the transfers were very important to us.
The fishing was excellent. Good boat, good skipper and deckies, good gear and lots of fish. The La Guaira Banks lived up to the reputation of one of the world's best fisheries with 2 Blue Marlin 1 Sailfish a 50odd kg Yellowfin and 2 Dorado in the 2 days.
We would have no hesitation in returning to fish in Venezuela.
I have no hesitation in recommending Coral Way Fleet to people I speak to here in Australia. I don't think you will get a huge clientele from here as it is really a long way to go but if anyone wants champagne billfishing Venezuela is a great place to go.
I will be putting an article into our local Gamefish club newsletter about our Guatemalan and Venezuelan experiences I'll send you a copy of the magazine.
