SOME GREAT CANADIAN FISHING LODGES
YUKON TERRITORY, Lake Wellesley
Field & Stream Magazine named it “…the Number One Trophy Lake Trout Lake In Canada.”
Lake Wellesley in Yukon Territory, offers some of the best lake trout and northern pike fishing in Canada. Because of the clarity of the water and the configuration of the lake, it is a great trolling, jigging, casting and fly fishing destination.
Located 200 air miles northwest of Whitehorse in Canada’s Yukon Territory, this secluded lodge is accessible only by float plane. The lodge can accommodate 18 guests at one time, and offers all the comforts of home. The main lodge consists of a large dining room, bar, lounge and store, as well as the kitchen, which is always open for delicious meals and snacks. All meals are served family style, however, one has the option of taking the mid-day meal out or returning to the lodge. Shore lunches are a favorite. Lake trout range in size to 60 pounds, with the average being 10 pounds. Northern pike and lake whitefish are equally abundant in both numbers and size, with the average pike caught being between 4 pounds and 16 pounds. STAMP RIVER,VANCOUVER ISLAND, British Columbia, Canada
This will be our fifth season on the Stamp River. It is the most exciting of all Canadian Rivers to fish during September and October. The river has a truly spectacular fall run of silver (coho) and king (chinook) salmon. Steelhead are also taken, especially in late season. The remarkable thing about the Stamp is that it is sight fishing, where anglers cast to constantly passing schools of salmon.
We’re talking hot fish here, incredibly strong and fast! It is great fly fishery, however, spinning gear is also very effective. Anglers are moved on the stream by jet boat and fish, two to a guide, fishing either by wading or from the anchored boat, depending on the water. The lodge offers first class accommodations and meals. There is an 18 hole golf course nearby, perfect for an after fishing game.
