The Lodge
Murphy's Riverside Lodge is situated on the lower section of the Stamp River, also known as the Somass River. This is a Super Deluxe operation with gourmet food, comfortable accomodations and a naturally beautiful setting. Start your day with a hearty breakfast, enjoy a riverside lunch, and top the day off with a four-course dinner.
The Fishing
Using jet boats, we fish the upper Stamp River starting at the headwaters down to about Moneys Pool. The Lower Section (or Somass River) is accessible from the Lodge by jet boat, and is fished from the Boundary Line up river to the Sprout River confluence.
The Stamp River is world famous for its prolific run of Silver Salmon. The fishing program also includes King Salmon fishing on the Nitinat River and Steelhead fishing on the Nahmint, both by use of waders.
This is all sight fishing in gin-clear waters of three different drainages. These fish are HOT HOT HOT and provide a real kick to hook and land. All three species are most often Chrome Silver during this beginning week of their peak-run period.
We are expecting a return of the 2005 Silver Salmon numbers this year. Typically, the Stamp will see up to 2,000 Silvers and 1,000 Kings per day during the peak of their annual runs. You can check out the amount of fish coming up the Stamp River over the last two years by reviewing the actual counts on links below:
