Hotel Playa Del Sol's sport fishing fleet offers quick access to world famous fishing grounds teeming with five billfish species, plus dorado, tuna, wahoo, and over 80 other species. English speaking captains with years of experience pilot 28-32 foot fiberglass cruisers and 23-25 foot super pangas. Fillet and freezer services, as well as a smokehouse, are available to prepare your catch for your trip home. Our fishing/resort packages are surprisingly affordable and can be 100% customized to meet your exact needs.
Located right on the shores of the East Cape, Hotel Playa Del Sol offers breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez. At Hotel Playa Del Sol guests can choose to stay in either an air conditioned ocean view room or garden room. Playa Del Sol has 20 recently remodeled ocean view rooms and 6 newly remodeled garden rooms. Rooms here can accommodate from one to four people per room. The ocean view rooms come with three beds, a mini-fridge, and telephone service. The newly remodeled garden rooms are located in the quietest part of the hotel. Each room includes two double beds and telephone service. The garden rooms are perfect for those guests looking for a little rest and relaxation in a quieter setting. Playa Del Sol is perfect for small groups, families or an intimate hideaway. The Fishing
The Sea of Cortez, one of the world's most rich and diverse marine environments, is one of the few locales that yield marlin year-round. Besides being a prime spring spawning area for striped marlin up to 200 pounds, Baja's East Cape is a favored location to achieve bill fishing's Grand Slam, adding blue and black marlin (200-1000 pounds) and Pacific sailfish (80-150 pounds) to the mix.
Catch-and-release is strongly encouraged for all billfish. These apex predators comprise the pinnacle of a fragile marine eco-system. Conversely, plentiful species like tuna and dorado (mahi-mahi) reproduce in the millions and make excellent table fare. These pelagic (open ocean) species roam the 1500-7500-foot depths close to shore here. Numerous inshore species add to the incredible variety of marine life in the Sea of Cortez.
We'll provide everything you require to enjoy this sport fishing mecca, including tackle-rigged 28-32 foot cruisers and 23-25 foot super pangas with savvy English-speaking local guides.
