El Salto had long been known as a tremendous "numbers" lake where 100 bass days were not uncommon. But during the 1998-99 fishing season, the lake didn't surrender many 100 bass days, but it more than made up for it with the sheer abundance of quality 7 pound plus bass that it produced each and every day. Anglers caught an astounding 200+ bass that weighed between 9 and 14 pounds... and that's just the ones documented. There are osprey, egrets, herons, a variety of ducks, ibis, and other bird species to observer while fishing.

Service at the lodge is world class for a bass camp. There is a swimming pool, and rooms are air conditioned.You are awakened with coffee or tea in the mornings, and greeted with a tray of Margaritas or ice tea when you return to camp for lunch and dinner. Meals are an excellent blend of Mexican and American cuisine. Bass Tracker Super 17 bass boats complete with live wells, electric motors and 48 hp Yamaha engines are used.

This is a fairly young lake with lots of cover. We believe it is just coming into it's prime. The lake record is 16 pounds and the size is increasing yearly. It's a great place to go with a group of friends, kick back in the balmy climate, catch lots of fish, and have a great time. Angler's Inn is especially conducive to angling couples and many come here to fish. Even the inexperienced anglers will be successful here! Rods reels and tackle boxes full of lures are available to rent. Lake El Salto is an easy 2 hour drive from Mazatlan and this great bass fishing can be combined with just relaxing on the Mexican Riviera or billfishing off that coast.
