Nile Perch fishing in lake Nasser

Nile Perch Fishing in Lake Nasser

March through May and Mid September through Mid-December

Lake Nasser is a place where a small group of anglers have literally hundreds of square miles to themselves. It will change in time and it's worth taking advantage of the lake Nasser experience in this, the early stages of its development.

The Nile Perch is the largest fresh water fish available to anglers!!

Giant Perch in Egypt

In the 1960's a dam was built on the Nile at Aswan. The resulting lake flooded over 300 miles of the Nile valley creating one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. With a surface area of over 2,400 square miles and virtually no commercial or private fishing pressure the resident fish population has thrived. The lake offers terrific angling combined with a lovely place to visit. It's a magical wilderness of stunning desert scenery, bordered by the clean water of the lake which is dotted with rocky islands.

Over 100 species of birds have been recorded with crocodiles, monitor lizards, Dorcas gazelles, golden jackals and desert foxes all finding the perfect habitat. This tour is a safari in the truest meaning of the word. You are roughing it by camping literally miles away from any civilization. The stars are your ceiling with a step behind the rocks your bathroom. This adventure won't last long. Soon more people will come and this paradise will be corrupted....

Last fall a visiting angler caught the current all tackle world record Nile perch, 213 lbs.! It has been common to find fish in the 100 to 200 pound range. One was found on the lake floating (it had probably died of natural causes) that weighed over 350 pounds. In addition to the perch there are tiger fish and other interesting angling challenges.

NUBIAN SAFARI

From May 28th to October 1st

Safaris can start and end on any day of the week

The Nubian Safari offers a degree of independence, which many anglers prefer. This safari is ideal for two or four friends who like to fish together. They can charter one or two fishing boats and set out alone on an adventure fishing experience that has few equals anywhere. There are no supply boats on these safaris instead, each of our Nubian Safari fishing boats is equipped with specially designed cooking and camping equipment. These small compact units allow anglers to roam Lake Nasser at their own pace. Each boat is manned by an experienced guide and a helper / cook to take care of all the camping requirements. For security each safari carries a spare engine.

The minimum number of anglers required to operate this safari is two in one boat and the maximum is four in two boats.

"Another interesting experience is shore fishing...Where else for instance, can you work artificial lures from the shore anywhere in the world, either in fresh or salt water, and encounter fish in the 20 lb. - 100 lb. plus category. Nasser is quite unique in this kind of experience, believe me!".

- John Wilson of TV's 'Gone Fishing' programme series.
