- GOLFO
DULCE
- Just
a
short
flight
from
San
José,
this
lodge
is
a

class
resort,
situated
on
44
acres
of
tropical
gardens
on
the
Osa
Peninsula
and
adjacent
to
some
of
Costa
Rica's
most
beautiful
beaches.
The
"Osa"
has
been
described
by
National
Geographic
as
"the
most
ecologically
intense
place
on
earth".
This
is
the

in
the
world;
blue

sailfish,
marlin,
dorado,
wahoo
and
tuna;
mangrove
back
country
for
snook,
snapper,
barracuda
and

- RIO
COLORADO
- Fishing
International
has
long
known
the
Rio
Colorado,
the
main
outflow
of
the
delta
of
the
San
Juan
River
which
creates
the
boundary
between
Costa
Rica
and
Nicaragua.
We
began
fishing
there
in
1974
and
helped
develop
the
fishery.
The
Rio
Colorado
is
the
heaviest
flowing
river
in
Costa
Rica.
It
is
this
volume
of
fresh
water
pouring
into
the
Caribbean
which
attracts
the
river's
famous
concentration
of
large
tarpon.
Rio
Colorado
Lodge
is
located
at
the
river's
mouth.
Its
23
ft.
modified
V-hulled
center
console
boats
with
75
HP
motors
not
only
fish
the
river
itself,
but
can
navigate
the
river
mouth
to
fish
the
schools
of
rolling
tarpon
in
the
Caribbean
Sea.
The
lodge
has
an
ambiance
that
appeals
to
fishermen.
All
rooms
have
private
baths
and
three
family
style
meals
are
served
daily.
If
one
gets
tired
of
tarpon,
the
jungle
backwaters
also
hold
snook,
rainbow
bass
and
other
smaller
species.
The
jungle
here
is
something
to
see;
monkeys,
toucan,
alligators,
turtles,
and
colorful
birds
of
all
descriptions
can
be
viewed
and
photographed
from
the
safety
of
your
boat.
Three
full
days
of
fishing
$1,427.00
per
person.

- VENEZUELA
- LA
GUAIRA
- Since
the
tragic
mud
slides
of
December
1999
La
Guaira
has
been
rebuilding.
It
took
seven
months
for
our
operator
to
get
back
in
business
and
he
has
had
good
billfish
action.
The
Macuto
Sheraton,
our
main
hotel,
has
not
reopened
- because
it
has
been
the
headquarters
for
the
workers
brought
into
the
area
for
rebuilding.
For
the
time
being
we
are
placing
our
anglers
in
the
Best
Western
Puerto
Viejo
Hotel
&
Marina.
A
very
good
hotel
located
10
minutes
west
of
the
Caracas
Airport.
Since
it
has
a
marina,
boats
will
often
pick
up
anglers
there.
- It
is
difficult
to
beat
the
spring,
winter
and
fall
fishing
in
La
Guaira
when
huge
concentrations
of
billfish
invade
the
fishing
banks
45
minutes
offshore.
If
you
dream
of
a
Grand
Slam
(three
different
billfish
caught
the
same
day)
or
a
Super
Grand
Slam
(four
different
billfish
caught
the
same
day),
you
want
to
fish
La
Guaira
sometime
during
September
through
the
end
of
March.
We
have
selected
the
best
boats
and
crews
of
La
Guaira.
Not
only
is
the
fishing
some
of
the
best
in
the
world,
it
is
one
of
the
best
values
in
big
game
fishing.
Accommodations
are
first
class.
- Four
nights/3
days
fishing
from
$765.00
per
person.
-
- AUSTRALIA

- CAIRNS
- Heavy
Tackle
- Each
year
they
come-through
the
Torres
Straight,
south
along
the
northeast
coast
of
New
Guinea;
down
from
the
Bismark
Archipelago,
the
Solomon
Islands
and
Samarai;
up
from
New
Zealand
and
west
from
the
Fijis
to
form,
for
a
brief
time,
the
largest
concentration
of
black
marlin
known
to
the
world.
- This
is
the
Barrier
Reef,
one
of
the
natural
wonders
of
the
world
and
the
battleground
for
classic
encounters
between
angler
and
the
giant
black
marlin.
Some
30-50
miles
off
the
coast,
a
very
special
strip
of
ocean
called
"The
Ribbons"
draws
billfishing
aficionados
from
every
corner
of
the
globe.
More
"Granders
"
(1000
pound
plus
marlin)
are
taken
here
each
fall
than
in
all
the
other
fishing
waters
of
the
world
combined.
- Most
trophy
oriented
anglers
prefer
the
strategic
advantages
of
a
mothership
or
a
live-a-board
gameboat,
which
allows
you
to
roam
freely
along
the
Ribbons,
staying
with
the
migrating
marlin,
then
ducking
into
protected
waters
each
night.
Light
tackle
fishing,
swimming,
snorkeling,
diving
and
exploring
the
vast
shallow
lagoons
formed
by
the
world's
largest
barrier
reef
are
all
part
of
this
clearly
unforgettable
angling
experience.
Live-a-board
$1,950.00
per
day.
- Light
Tackle
- The
fish
rich
waters
off
Cairns
offer
unlimited
angling
opportunities
for
those
who
like
to
take
on
gamefish
with
a
variety
of
light
tackle.
Skippers
stow
the
heavy
stuff
and
break
out
16,
20
and
30
pound
class
gear
for
small
black
marlin
(in
the
40
to
250
pound
class),
sailfish,
wahoo,
tuna,
dolphin
fish
and
immense
mackerel.
Further
inshore,
trevally,
barracuda
and
leaping
queenfish
provide
great
action
on
plug-casting
and
spinning
gear.
- To
experience
the
sparkling
waters
of
the
Barrier
Reef
as
they
come
alive
with
schools
of
boiling
gamefish
is
something
every
angler
owes
himself.
- Anglers
can
stay
in
the
lively
city
of
Cairns
or
the
quaint
villages
of
Palm
Cove
or
Port
Douglas,
where
there
is
a
wide
variety
of
moderate
to
luxury
resort
accommodations.
Special
live-at-sea
overnight
trips
are
available
by
special
request.
