from
San
Jose,
Costa

of
Quepos.

bustling
community
with
an

unique
combination
of
superb
sportfishing
with
the

of
the
spectacular

Antonio

Park,
which
is

Quepos
since
it
offers
some
of
the
nicest
beaches,
is
close
to
San
Jose
and
now
offers
a
variety
of
hotels,
has

- BILLY
PATE'S
INVITATIONAL
FLY
FISHING
TOURNAMENT
The
famous
4
day
event
took
place
in
Quepos
in
late
January
2001.
Sixteen
anglers
participated
in
the
tournament.
Patrick
Richer
Delavau,
Fishing
International's
field
advisor
for
France,
finished
second
with
11
sailfish
released
behind
Joe
Dowdell
who
released
16
sailfish.
The
boats
raised
a
lot
of
sailfish,
however,
anglers
reported
that
most
of
the
fish
were
not
aggressive
enough
to
be
caught
on
a
fly.
"Patrick
scored
very
well,
hooking
and
releasing
all
the
fish
he
had
a
chance
to
cast
a
fly
to"
reported
Enrique
his
captain.
Quepos
is
the
ideal
location
for
fly
fishing
for
sailfish.
The
sea
is
almost
always
calm,
our
crews
are
very
well
versed
in
light
tackle
and
last
but
not
least,
hotel
accommodations
are
very
comfortable.
