Grand Alaskan Lodge / The Dining Tradition: Renowned for its great dinner parties and family-style feasting. It is elegant, yet simple Alaskan gourmet dining. In fact, guests often aren’t sure which they enjoy more: the food or the fishing. Sumptuous hors d’ouevres start the festivities at 6:00PM as the day’s fishing adventures are reviewed, relived and retold. The striking of the Captain’s bell heralds the dinner hour of seven and guests take their seats around the large 8-foot cedar table. Whether it’s king crab, USDA Prime beef or catch of the day, we strive to deliver the highest quality ingredients.
Grand Alaskan Lodge / Seaside Cabins: Oceanfront log cabins situated beside the lodge, offer guests luxurious Far North lodging. (Each spacious 800 sq.-foot room sleeps 2 people). The King-size Old Hickory beds are complete with warm Hudson Bay blankets and flannel sheets. A private bathroom en suite, mini fridge and satellite TV offer more comforts of home. Step out onto the front deck to spectacular views; watch an eagle soar by or catch the beauty of the setting midnight sun.
Fresh Water Fishing: Out of Alaska’s more than 3000 fresh water streams, we have picked 40 of the very best. Experience fishing in crystal-clear creeks, glacier-fed rivers and gravel-bottomed brooks where salmon and trout abound. Fish for 12 fresh water species: 5 species of salmon, arctic char/dolly varden, lake trout, steelhead, northern pike, rainbow trout and grayling. Fish with fly or spinner. Wade, drift or troll on our river sleds. Our experienced guides cater to both novice fisherman or expert angler.
Saltwater Fishing: Truly the halibut capital of the world, Cook Inlet brings the most extreme halibut experience within grasp. Halibut up to 300 pounds are caught every year. Leave port for the deep-water haunts of the halibut and salmon in comfortable 28-foot cabin cruisers, armed with tournament tackle, fishing four passengers to a boat. Our captains and deck hands are USCG licensed. Volcano vistas and vast ocean views provide the backdrop for fierce halibut and salmon action, as we search for the biggest and the best.
Flyout Adventures: Explore places that very few have ever seen, let alone fished. Our Alaskan bush pilots fly within a 200-mile radius of the lodge to provide you with the ultimate Alaskan adventure. Set out from the lodge in an amphibious DeHavilland float plane or Bell helicopter to remote streams and glacier-fed lakes where brown bears play in sacred salmon grounds. Experience fishing with the bears, if you can stand the competition! Fly over mountains and glaciers to some of Alaska’s most remote and exciting places to fish. (Pilots and guests will stay with you all day). Take a break in the thrill of such a day to enjoy a shore lunch cooked to perfection, then continue fishing. Later it’s back to the lodge for hors d’oeuvres.
