Aguila de Osa Inn is located in the southwestern coast of Costa Rica on a bluff overlooking Drake Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The Peninsula de Osa has been described by National Geographic magazine as “The most biologically intense place on earth.” Archeologists and historians have yet to unravel the mysterious past of this region.
The lodge offers thirteen rooms, of which two are suites. Each room has hardwood floors, screen windows, ceiling fans and private tiled bathrooms. The lodge has a generator, with a back-up, which operates 24 hours per day. Besides fishing, the lodge offers diving tours, jungle hikes through the lush rain forest of Corcovado National Park, horseback riding, Kayaking, snorkeling, beachcombing and Archeological hikes at Isla del Cano Biological Reserve (Cano Island). The best time for travelers and fishermen to visit this area is during the Dry Season of December – April.
The adventure starts from San Jose by domestic or charter air service to Palmar Sur. Flight time is approx. 30 minutes. From there, a 25 minute taxi ride through the plantations country brings you to the village of Sierpe and a one hour boat ride down the Rio Sierpe. The river winds slowly through the beautiful jungle. As the river widens and opens onto the Pacific, the boat proceeds along the coast to the lodge located at Drake Bay.
Fishing challenge offers some of the worlds best big game fishing. Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Snapper, Roosterfish, Wahoo, Tuna as well as a variety of other species can be caught from the Inn’s 31ft Garrett sportfishers or from a 24ft fiberglass deluxe panga. Good crews and guides.
Cano Island Biological Reserve is an undersea garden of spectacular rock and coral formations which is located just off the coast of Drake Bay. Scuba or snorkel among huge schools of colorful reef fish, manta rays with 15 foot wingspans glide overhead or barracuda and whitetip sharks cruise the reef below.
